Spring 2008 News - March 28, 2008
Hello, all! Happy spring to everyone.
First, a warm welcome to new people on my list - thanks for joining.
I'm thrilled to say I now have fans on my list in Canada, Australia,
and Denmark! Whenever you need to change your information or if you
decide to unsubscribe, you can always just click the link at the end
of my emails.
I'm so happy to have met a new Bulgarian friend on my recent trip
visiting family in Denmark. She gave me a Bulgarian "martinitsa" - a
red and white bracelet that is given to friends beginning in March.
Then on the first day of spring, you take off the bracelet and tie it
to a tree. I tied mine to the tree in front of New Vibrations, a
lovely metaphysical shop in Jackson, MS. To see a photo of the tree
and my martinitsa go to http://www.laurelmakesmusic.com/photos.html
My show at Bach to Blues this month went very well; the people there
were listening so closely, seeming to really get the messages of the
songs, and laughing with me. It turns out that this series, Bach to
Blues, will be discontinued after a wonderful three-year run. Thanks
to Marcia Weaver and everyone at Trinity Lutheran for hosting the
series as it exposed many people to all kinds of music; it also served
to connect musicians in Jackson with one another. I am honored to have
played the final show!
For those of you who caught my guest host appearance on Radio JFP's
"Chick Talk" - thanks for listening! The show went so well that I've
been invited to head over there about once a month, so stay tuned for
more Chick Talk. The station is 103.7 FM in Jackson, but is also
available online at www.wlezfm.com.
Finally, I am very happy to announce that the date for our 2008 Chick
Ball has been announced - Saturday, July 19th!! This event raises
money for the prevention of domestic violence and those of you living
in Jackson will not want to miss it as it is only $5 to get in and is
one of the best parties of the entire year! I will play an acoustic
set and I may be working with a band - more on that soon.
Thanks for your support and friendship!
All the best,
Laurel Isbister
